The art of being awkward
The act of showing truly honest emotion can leave one feeling vulnerable, which goes against our very nature as humans. So instead of being honest with others or even ourselves, we often allow our survival instincts to create an emotional
barrier that we may shelter those feelings behind. However, in moments of seclusion and intimacy we tend to lay that wall to rest; holding it up all the time is exhausting and, let’s face it, our arms are tired.
It is in those moments when real, honest emotion can be examined for what it is instead of what we wish it to
appear as.
This struggle with honest emotion is the focus of my work; an
exploration of beauty and discomfort in intimate moments.
